What I find most interesting is that she understands, and obviously trusts you enough, to know the difference between hitting your hand as an anger management tool but not using it to hurt others.
Hi.
Love the pillow idea, but not always accessible. One non verbal child I have contact with responds very well if I extend a hand out to her (palm upwards) and encourage her to hit my hand as hard as she likes with a downward stroke. With encouragement to hit harder she continues until her own hand hurts her enough &/or her anger has dissipated. This developed from initial "high fives", and because I only offer my palm upwards for anger management, she has not translated this into a general ok to slap someone to vent her anger.
